My mind is blank

My head feels empty 

But like a happy empty, like the air of a balloon bobbing along the tiled floor

The emptiness stirs

It swirls

Around and around 

Celebrating the quiet

Anticipating the stories—and the dreams that will soon take flight

 

I picture my head as those checkerboard tiles

Freshly mopped and scented with citrus 

She’s ready for new messes to tidy and chaos to organize

Around and around and around we go
